The FLUXUS® XLF from FLEXIM

Non-invasive measurement of extremely low flow rates

For the non-invasive measurement of extremely low flow rates, FLEXIM has developed the FLUXUS® XLF flowmeter. The FLUXUS® XLF can be used to record the lowest flow rates to below 3.5 l/h on pipe sizes from 6 to 50 mm. Regardless of the pipe wall thickness, these measurements are accurate, reproducible and long-term stable. Since clamp-on ultrasonic transducers are simply mounted on the outside of the pipe, there is no need to open the pipe and therefore no interruption to operation while installing the measuring equipment.

The FLUXUS® XLF can be used on all pipe materials and with any pipe wall thickness and measures independently of the actual pressure in the pipe. Unlike wetted measuring instruments, the system is not subjected to any mechanical stress or wear and tear by the medium. This results in lower operational costs over the entire life cycle and operational safety is significantly increased because any risk of leakage is ruled out.

The high accuracy and reproducibility of the FLUXUS® XLF even at the lowest flow rates is based on carefully paired ultrasonic transducers, their internal temperature compensation (acc. to ANSI/ASME MFC 5.1-2011), highly sensitive electronics and intelligent signal processing. It is also based on highly accurate wet calibration on FLEXIM’s own calibration rig which is specifically for the lowest flow rates. This wet calibration is traceable to national standards.

The inherently sturdy measuring system is also available in a particularly durable stainless steel design (316L / 1.4404) with the degree of protection IP66 for use under the most challenging conditions. The measuring transmitter is certified for use in zone 2 hazardous areas. Explosion-proof transducers for use in ATEX-zone 1 are available as well as transducers for continuous operation submerged under water (IP68).
